Mr. Chukwuemeka Akwiwu (also known as Emeka) has over 20 years in the Reinsurance Industry. He was appointed Group Executive Director of Continental Reinsurance Plc in 2021. Before joining Continental Reinsurance in 2021, he held several positions with Gen Re in Manchester, London, and Johannesburg spanning 20 years (2001 – 2021), including P&C Sub Sahara Regional Manager, Property Manager South Africa and Property Manager UK and Ireland.

Mr. Akwiwu is the Group Executive Director of Continental Reinsurance with approximately $200m of premium across the continent.  Continental Reinsurance is a composite reinsurer and the largest private pan-African reinsurance company with offices in Lagos, Douala, Nairobi Abidjan, Tunis, and Gaborone.

Mr. Akwiwu holds a bachelor’s degree in Government and Public Administration from Abia State University, Nigeria.  He also has a Diploma in Insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute, London.
